Around the world, women and men get pumped once a year for the world’s most important beauty pageant of all time – The Miss World Title.

Miss World is without a doubt the world’s oldest International beauty pageant. Created in 1951, in the U.K by Eric Morley, it is now one of the big 4 International beauty pageants in the world, including Miss International, Miss Earth and Miss Universe. Miss world however is probably the most coveted title across the globe and citizens of every country are enthralled with the thoughts of their country grabbing the crown.


Miss World 2018, Vanessa Ponce

This year, the Miss World 2018 title went to Vanessa Ponce from Mexico. She was crowned on the 8th of December in Sanya, China. Vanessa is the first mexican woman to win the title.

Vanessa Ponce de Leon is a glamourous mexican model and a volunteer. She was crowned Miss World, earlier on Saturday, making her the 68th Miss World. She was crowned by last year’s winner, Manushi Chhillar from India, who was the 2017 Miss World.  Vanessa Ponce, the official Miss Mexico is a 26 year old with a degree in International business. She also volunteers for Misgrantes en el Camino.

Apart from all this, according to the Miss World website, Vanessa Ponce is also on the board of directors of a girls rehab centre.  


All you need to know about the Miss World Pageant 2018

India’s representative for the Miss World pageant this year was Anukeerthy Vas, a 20-year old student from Tamil Nadu. She was in the top 30. In 2017, Manushi Chhillar brought home the title after Priyanka Chopra brought the title home in 2000.

Miss Leon has to beat 117 contenders to win her title. The glitzy ceremony was concluded with the US group Sister Sledge who performed a 1979 disco anthem ‘We Are Family.’

The first runner up title was given to Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan, Miss Thailand, a 20-year-old student in business administration.

The final five consisted of Miss Jamaica Kadijah Robinson, Miss Belarus Maria Vasilevich and Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo.

This is the eighth Miss World pageant to he help in Sanya. The first hosted in Sanya was back in 2003.

The ceremony ended with tears of joy, thousands of smiles and the gorgeous contestants congratulating Miss Vanessa – the new Miss World 2018.
