Quinoa is a well known superfood packed with nutrients and vitamins for optimum health. In recent years it has gained traction around the world as the fitness fitternity has embraced this grain in all sorts of diets. Quinoa is high in protein and dietary fibre to help you stay on track with calories and macros. It is also gluten-free and can be enjoyed by people who have gluten intolerance.



Though finding a pack of quinoa near you may be difficult and the cost of a pack can affect your monthly budget, the proven health benefits of this superfood exceed the cons. If you do decide to try quinoa, here are some easy and tasty recipes you can try:


Quinoa Upma- All grains in India can be made into an upma. Similarly, just replace rava or oats with quinoa in your regular recipe. Quinoa can take longer to cook, so after adding quinoa to the vessel you must cook it for 20 minutes on medium flame while stirring it in between after every few minutes.


Quinoa Veggie Salad– Soak and rinse quinoa for 2-3 minutes in cold water before cooking it in boiling water for 15-20 minutes. After removing from flame, cover the pot with a lid and let the quinoa cook further in steam for 5 minutes.Once plain quinoa is ready, add salad veggies, olive oil dressing, lemon and feta cheese.


Quinoa Patty– To prepare this simple dish, quinoa should be half cooked for 10-12 minutes in plain water. Saute garlic, onions, carrots, zucchini and add quinoa to this mixture. To bind everything together add egg and oats. Season with salt and pepper and make baked patty on non stick pan with this mixture.
